About The Club

Welcome to Baglan Bay Photographic Society. We are a group of like-minded friends with an interest in Photography. We meet at 7.30pm on Tuesday evenings - face to face on the first and last Tuesdays of the month and via Zoom on other Tuesday evenings. Our face to face meetings are held at The Briton Ferry Town Council Community Hall SA11 2NS. Our programme of events and meeting dates may be seen in the Announcements Section of our Facebook page under 'What's Coming Up'.  It will also be seen on the Members Updates page of this website.

Baglan Bay Photographic Society is affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain through its membership of the Welsh Photographic Federation.

The Club offers a range of options for it's members. We hold our own internal competitions for Prints and Digital images and also encourage our members to take part in inter club competitions throughout the year. It's not all about competing, as we meet each Thursday for an arranged photoshoot, where you can pick the brains of some of our more experienced members. Our face to face meetings offer the opportunity for practical evenings, critique and lively discussion.

We present Talks by well-known visiting photographers, who show us their work and talk about their experiences in the world of photography.

We welcome photographers of all levels and skill, from beginners to advanced, and in all branches of photography including natural history, street, landscape, portraiture and travel.

Please come along and find out what we are about. We look forward to welcoming you to our friendly club.

Club Evenings

MEETINGS

We meet each Tuesday - face to face on the first and last Tuesday evenings of the month at Briton Ferry Town Council Community Hall SA11 2NS and other Tuesday evenings via Zoom.

Our programme of events includes local presenters, and well known presenters from across the country via Zoom who we may not be able to see otherwise.

Our own BBPS members also make significant contributions to our meetings with Show & Tell Evenings where up to 10 members show their images to us. A few members have also given a full evening's presentation of their work.

Around 75% of our membership regularly attend the weekly meetings via Zoom and/or face to face.

During July and August our Tuesday evening meetings become evening shoots at various local locations.

DAYS OUT

Every Thursday morning members gather on an arranged Photoshoot Day Out at various locations. This is a very sociable event usually starting with a coffee and a chance to chat and catch up on news. The Day Out also provides an opportunity to share photography knowlege, ideas, hints and tips from our more experienced members.

COMPETITIONS

We hold regular Internal Open and Themed Competitions ( a combination of PDIs and Prints) which are judged by WPF judges.

We also hold our 'Anniversary Trophy' PDI Competition during September, and our Print of the Year Competition during May.

We encourage our members to participate in External Competitions such as Battles, Inter Club Challenges and PAGB Competitions.
