About The Club

Welcome to Baglan Bay Photographic Society. We are a group of like-minded friends with an interest in Photography. We meet on alternate Tuesdays at the Sandfields Presbyterian Church Hall, Western Avenue, Port Talbot SA12 7LS. Our programme of events and meeting dates may be seen in the Announcements Section of our Facebook page under 'What's Coming Up'.  It will also be seen on the Events page of this website.

Baglan Bay Photographic Society is affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain through its membership of the Welsh Photographic Federation.

The Club offers a range of options for it's members. We hold our own internal competitions bi-monthly for both Prints and Digital images and also encourage our members to take part in inter club competitions throughout the year. It's not all about competing, as we meet each Thursday for an arranged photoshoot, where you can pick the brains of some of our more experienced members.

We present Talks by well-known visiting photographers, who show us their work and talk about their experiences in the world of photography.

We welcome photographers of all levels and skill, from beginners to advanced, and in all branches of photography - natural history, landscape, portraiture and travel.

Please come along and find out what we are about, we look forward to welcoming you to our friendly club.

WE ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED DUE TO THE COVID-19 SITUATION.

HOWEVER WE WOULD BE DELIGHTED TO WELCOME YOU ONCE RESTRICTIONS ARE LIFTED

Club Evenings

While the Covid 19 situation continues to affect our everyday lives, normal Club meetings are on hold. We are however continuing online meetings using software called Zoom

To date this has been very successful and we have continued to meet every Tuesday evening via Zoom. Our programme of events has changed slightly to accommodate the new situation and we have been delighted to welcome presenters such as Jenny Hibbert, Leigh Woolford, Graham Harries, Mike Bray and Mike Clatworthy. Our planned bi-monthly Themed Competition in May was able to go ahead via Zoom (albeit without the print section) and was judged by Brian Coleman. Our July competition also ran via Zoom and was judged by Peter Young, President of the WPF.

Our own BBPS members have also made significant contributions to our meetings with a Lightroom Editing Evening and a Quiz Night. We also held a members Show & Tell Evening and on 4th August a second Quiz Night is planned.

Around 70% of our membership regularly attend the weekly Zoom meetings.

During August our Tuesday evening meetings become evening shoots at various local locations.

We will resume our Tuesday meetings on September 8th via Zoom and will continue to meet this way until it is acceptable and safe for us to return to the church hall.
